Woamy has been featured by Aalto University in a video highlighting how research-driven innovation can grow into real-world startup impact.

Born from years of materials research at Aalto University, Woamy develops cellulose-based biofoams designed to replace traditional plastic foams used in packaging and other applications. Inspired by nature’s own lightweight and strong structures, such as wood, Woamy’s technology uses cellulose to create protective foam without fossil-based plastics.

The result is a material that combines performance, sustainability, and design. Woamy biofoam is recyclable in paper and cardboard streams, biodegradable, and made from renewable raw materials, while also offering the premium look and feel needed for today’s packaging solutions.

At Woamy, material science, engineering, and design come together to create alternatives that are not only functional and sustainable, but also beautiful. The team’s mission is to help brands move away from plastic foams and towards circular, fiber-based packaging solutions.

We are proud to see Woamy’s Aalto roots recognized and to be part of a growing wave of research-based innovations creating global impact.
